The most common problem with beards; beard itch.
The reason why our beards itch so much:
At the base of every one of our beard follicles we have these tiny glands called Sebaceous Gland. These glands are responsible for producing an oil through the course of the day called Sebum Oil. This oil is responsible for keeping both our skin and beard follicles well moisturized and nourished. When we START to grow our beard the Sebum Oil will be sufficient. However, after about a month of growth our beard will demand more Sebum Oil than what can actually be produced by our Sebaceous Glands.
The Cure for Beard Itch:
The best cure for beard itch is BEARD OIL. Beard oil is a critical supplement for any man with a beard. Any quality beard oil will typically contain two core ingredients: carrier and essential oils. Carrier Oils deliver the nourishment for our beard follicles and our skin.
The Carrier Oils we use in our beard oils & balms are Jojoba, Argan & Hempseed Oil and have proven to be some of the best quality oils providing a TON of nourishment to our beards and skin.
The Facts on Jojoba, Argan & Hemp Seed Oil
Jojoba oil (pronounced hohoba) is the closest substitute to our natural oil (Sebum Oil) which conditions and softens both the skin and the facial hair. Jojoba is also non-comedogenic and non-allergenic so it will not block pores and shouldn’t cause skin irritation. Jojoba is reputed to strengthen the hair shaft and clean the hair follicle, which is important if you’re trying to maintain a long beard.
Argan Oil has been proven to make hair thicker, softer and shinier. Argan tens to repair split ends and manages the frizzy hair well. This oil also offers Vitamin E which provides antioxidants and helps the hair grow healthier by boosting cell production. Argan also has a moisturizing effect on the skin which can help with dandruff (beardruff).
Hemp Seed Oil does stimulate hair growth. That’s right, you read that correct. Hemp Oil helps to enhance the growth of facial hair in a number of ways. Among these is through the Omega 3, Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids, which are necessary in stimulating growth.
Our hair is made of keratin, of which is up to 90% protein. Hemp oil is able to provide this protein during the growth as a basic element of the hair. The oil also provides blood circulation which ensures that the hair follicles are nourished enough to support the growth. Another benefit is hemp oil strengthens hair! When hair is excessively dry, it becomes weak and breaks easily. Hemp oil is able to maintain hair’s natural texture and makes the skin and follicles better to support the hair.
